Road schematics are used in traffic congestion management systems. Operators using those systems need to know where they are in the road, what the physical road environment is and what environment the driver is experiencing. New operators need to learn to use the system, not worry about learning a new visual language to read the schematic. Our road schematics are designed to be readable without explanation.
They have been developed to work with the STREAMS road monitoring system. And they have been designed to be easy on the eye. Detail is revealed when zoomed in so that operators remain located geographically when in too close to see landmarks. Zoom out and the shape of the road is recognizable. Landmarks as well as road shape help operators locate themselves on the schematic.
